Cinco de Mayo in Pensacola - May 5th
There will certainly be all kinds of events happening around Pensacola on May 5th. At the least it's one more chance to impress your friends and family with a special occasion. You can even impress them with some interesting facts about what Cinco de Mayo is... and why it's significant.
Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for "fifth of May") is a holiday held on May 5 that commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza SeguĂn. It is celebrated primarily in the state of Puebla and in the United States. While Cinco de Mayo sees limited significance in Mexico itself, the date is observed nationwide mostly in the United States as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride. "Cinco de Mayo is not a Mexican holiday—it is an American Civil War holiday, created spontaneously by Mexicans and Latinos living in California who supported the fragile cause of defending freedom and democracy during the first years of that bloody war between the states." Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's Independence Day.

Want another unique idea to use the limo? How about taking the friends and family out to one of the many unique events held year round in our area. Here's one! The Florabama Mullet Toss. Map
WHAT IS A MULLET?
A mullet is one of the more popular and plentiful fish indigenous to this area.
It is the only fish with a gizzard and is said to possess mystical properties. Known as bait fish on the east coast and a local delicacy here.
WHAT IS A MULLET TOSS?
A Mullet Toss consists of individuals on the beach throwing a mullet,
from a 10-foot circle in Alabama across the state line into Florida.
Not to mention a great excuse to throw a weekend long party,
with lots of fun activities, great music and food!
This year's event will feature local celebrities tossing out a few fish
at Noon, each day (Friday, Saturday & Sunday).
WHY TOSS A MULLET?
A contribution for each fish flung will go to Local Youth Charities., including local school education and prevention program from the Community Drug & Alcohol Council, Inc. (CDAC) which offers programs, community support and collaboration to address drug and alcohol abuse, tobacco, mental health issues and violence — both in the home and on our streets.
Each year, with your help, we raise and contribute over
$20,000 to our local charities, especially youth organizations.
